General aftercare indicates that for the first 48 hours for all procedures please restrict physical activity, avoid being submersed in water such as when bathing or recreational water activities. Avoid gardening and contact with animals.
CRITICAL - The First 24 hours are about preventing infection. The procedure area should be protected using a barrier ointment and dressing as recommended by your technician.
Every 4 hours, the treatment area cleaned delicately with lukewarm water and blotted dry with a non-fibrous towel. Ointment and fresh dressing to be reapplied. Do not swim, do not be in direct sun, do not exercise or perspire. Avoid drinking alcohol.
Days 1–7: Immediate Aftercare
Weeks 2–4: Ongoing Care
Inadequate aftercare can potentially lead to bacterial, viral, or fungal skin infections.
Although many paramedical procedures result in redness, swelling and tenderness at the procedure site particularly in the first days, it's important to note that these symptoms can also be signs of infection.
Additional symptoms can include red streaks going from the procedure site toward the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site.
Seek medical care if you experience these signs and symptoms.
