Cura Needling - Healing, risks and contraindications

About the Procedure

CuraNeedling is the signature Curative Ink™ technique for Inkless Scar and Stretchmark Revision (ISR). Using a rotary tattoo device at low voltage, fine needles create micro-trauma in the skin—without pigments. This process, also known as inkless tattooing, stimulates the body’s natural repair response, triggering collagen and elastin production in the treated areas. Targeted serums may be applied during treatment to enhance results. Clients often see visible improvement in skin texture and tone, with results from 20% to 80% improvement after just one session.

Expectations - First Couple Days (Days 1-3)

  • Appearance: Treated areas may look red, inflamed, or slightly swollen. Stretch marks may appear darker or more pronounced temporarily.
  • Sensation: Mild tenderness, warmth, or itchiness is common as the skin begins its repair response.
  • Care: Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid sun exposure, heavy sweating, or harsh products.

Expectations - 2 weeks

  • Appearance: Redness has mostly subsided. Stretch marks begin to fade in color and blend more with surrounding skin. Texture may feel smoother.
  • Healing: Collagen and elastin production is underway beneath the surface. Skin may still be slightly dry or flaky.
  • Care: Gentle moisturizers or technician-recommended serums may be used. Avoid exfoliation or aggressive treatments.

Expectations - 4 weeks+

  • Appearance: Final results begin to show. Stretch marks are visibly softer, flatter, and closer in tone to surrounding skin.
  • Outcome: Improvements vary—some clients see 20% to 80% reduction in visibility after one session.
  • Next Steps: Additional sessions may be recommended for deeper or older marks.

Potential Complications

  • Redness & Irritation: Temporary inflammation is normal, but prolonged redness may signal sensitivity or improper aftercare.
  • Hyperpigmentation or  Hypopigmentation: In some cases, treated areas may darken or lighten unevenly, especially in deeper skin tones or with sun exposure.
  • Scarring: Rare, but possible if the skin is picked during healing.
  • Infection: Can occur if aftercare isn’t followed
  • Allergic Reaction: Some clients may react to topical serums used during treatment.

Contraindications - Postpone treatment if:

  • Active skin conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, active acne, rashes or dermatitis in the treatment area.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Due to hormonal shifts and increased skin sensitivity.
  • Blood disorders or clotting issues: Healing may be impaired.
  • Autoimmune conditions: That affect skin regeneration or increase infection risk.
  • Recent procedures: Chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments in the same area within the past 2–4 weeks.
